Welcome to the Sunderland Antiquarian Society

The Society, which was founded in 1900, is based at 6 Douro Terrace, Sunderland, SR2 7DX (just up from the Civic Centre) and, by publications, research and meetings, encourages interest in the history of Sunderland and its region. The Society holds extensive archives which have been amassed and donated over the past century by the people of Sunderland and these are available to members and visitors. Membership is open to all and brings regular newsletters, published booklets, meetings and greater access to this website, the content of which is being regularly and constantly added to and improved.

The society's Heritage Centre is open to its members and the general public on Wednesday and Saturdays 9.30 - noon.

A Virtual Tour of the Centre is available in two parts. View part one here. View part two here.
