These Photographs are displayed by kind permission of Ian S Carr. Born in 1937 Ian was educated at Bede Grammar School Sunderland, the London School of Economics and the College of St Mark & St John, Chelsea. He returned to his native North East in 1960 to take up teaching at Grammar and later, High Schools. His many Photographs of rail scenes around the North East, particularly the Sunderland area have delighted many generations of railway enthusiasts over the decades. We do hope the pages on this site and theme delight many more.
